* Interviewed such celebrities and executives as Clive Davis, John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, Cher, Eddie Murphy, Sam Kinison, Dick Clark, Steve Allen, Steven Tyler, Sammy Cahn, Skid Row, Ringo Starr, Michael Jackson and over 175 A&R Executives.

 

* Was the first editor in the country to give Cover Stories to: Skid Row, Nelson, Nirvana, Offspring, Beck, Poison, Guns N' Roses.

 

* Author of the best-selling music business education book, GOING PRO, published by Hal Leonard corporation.

 

* Served as Associate Editor of CASH BOX Magazine in New York

1970-1973. Was responsible for writing news, reviews and conducting artist interviews.

 

* Editor-In- Chief of ROCK SCENE & METAL MANIA MAGAZINES, two nationally distributed monthly magazines. Ran both magazines, made all assignments, edited copy and wrote interviews and monthly columns. Also put together Special Edition Magazines on Elvis Presley and Kiss.

 

* Senior Editor of MUSIC CONNECTION MAGAZINE for 8 1/2 years.  Wrote all cover stories and headlines. Assigned all stories and was responsible for a staff of over 40 writers and photographers.

Teaching / Lectures

Taught classes in A&R and Personal Management at UCLA Extension

from 1990 - 1996 

 

Full-time staff instructor and Director of the Music Business Program at Musicians Institute, teaching Music Business Education courses in Personal Management, A&R, Public Relations & Marketing, Career Strategies, Releasing and Marketing Your Indie CD and Getting Gigs.

Publicity / Public Relations

Spent  five years as Account Executive with Kramer-Reiss-Patricola, a Hollywood-based  music business / entertainment-oriented public relations firm. Did trade & tour press for Jay Leno, Michael J. Fox, Body By Jake, Paramount Television and others. Scheduled television, radio, newspaper and magazine interviews for all major clients at company.  Also wrote artist bios, press releases and pitch letters to the press.

 

* Named National Publicity Director for Cabana Boy Records, distributed by Navarre. Wrote artist bios, pitched  artists to major newspapers and magazines and created an industry/trade awareness for the label.

 

Management

 Worked as Management Creative Consultant with Aucoin Management's West Coast offices. Was in charge of day-to-day operation of several Aucoin acts. Ran fan clubs, rehearsal and recording schedules, photo sessions, interview requests and served as Tour Manager for many of their acts.  Worked with artists such as Kiss, Starz and Billy Squire.

 

Served as Tour Manager on the 44-city Shaun Cassidy/Virgin National Tour, named by Billboard Magazine as the second highest grossing tour of 1978.

 

Songwriter

Has written and/or co-written over 300 songs.

 

* Co-wrote "Playin With Fire" with Dominic Frontierie.  Song appeared in the feature film, Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold  in late Seventies.

 

* In 1995, worked on writing and arrangements of songs for EMI recording artist J.T. Harding. Songs appeared on his debut album, Camaro Town .

 

* Co-wrote two albums worth of songs that were recorded by rock group DUST in late Seventies on Kama Sutra Records. Their second album, Hard Attack was charted by Billboard and Cash Box.

 

* Co-wrote over two dozen songs with former Epic & Elektra Records artist

Simon Stokes.

 

* During the past 18 years, served as an A+R Screener for TAXI--The Independent A&R Company that critiques songs from their members.
