Why Am I Here?

Those of you who know me as a 42-year veteran of the music industry are probably wondering why I'm spending my time blogging, right? After all, I'm a successful record producer, personal manager, magazine editor, author, educator, publicist...what the hell do I need to blog for?

The answer is simple. I need to continue deprogramming people--especially new, independent artists--and begin to program them with the essentials of this business. So many emerging artists have this dim view of the business... it's not fair...talent doesn't matter...the possibilities for success are so limited, and on and on and on.

Truth be told, all of this is right. But that by no means should turn anyone off to what is an amazing business. Where else can someone be paid for singing? or writing music? or playing concerts? Big deal, so the business is hard, so it's not fair. What business is?

All new emerging, independent artists must be encouraged to pursue their dreams. To carry on regardless of the hardships and pain and stress. The rewards for success far surpass the troubles of getting there.

What would you be doing if you couldn't play or sing or write music? How does a part time gig at Starbucks' strike you? Personally, I couldn't go a single day without music. So, 42 years into my amazing career, I still feel compelled to reach out and help others succeed. I still feel it is my duty to guide careers and educate independent artists.

42 years into my carer, I still feel the music in me. How do you feel?
