m mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore! Those that fail to learn from history are condemened to repeating it. More vets committed suicide after coming home from Vietnam then were killed in action. And now it's happening again, except this time many of the vets coming home from Iraq have no home to go to, because its been repossessed. Did you also know that one out of four of every Vietnam vets went to prison? What do you think is going to be the end result of this war? Especially in this financial climate. The Vietnam years were boom years for American business. At least when those vets came home it wasn't a near depression. And its already started. Iraq vets are turning to crime to pay the mortgage, feed their families, stay alive.
Where is something in the 1.6 trillion dollars our government is going to spend for these vets? And don't give me the same old story, "we'll let the V.A. do it." These are the same guys that brought rats to Walter Reed. Why are we not freezing the mortgages of men serving in combat? Why are we not protecting the home fires of those willing to put their lives on the line for our safety? Well, it's because we're so busy saving the banks, and the Wall Street tycoons.
You want to see something emotionally moving about vet suicides? Go to Youtube. Search The Confession Of An Iraq Vet. Watch the video, and then tell me you're not MAD AS HELL as well. Or just go here.
Why are we all taking this lying down? Why aren't we blogging -- writing our corrupt congressmen -- demanding something be done in this next 800 billion bailout for vets?
No wonder I'm mad. And you should be as well. We've not only screwed the pooch with our own homes, we've taken away the "home" our vets need to come back to, and are entitled to come back to. They should come first in our minds -- way before the banks, and the civilians that reached way beyond their means to get a loan they should never have been entitled to. No! Everyone doesn't deserve a piece of the American dream. That takes work! What they do deserve is the right to dream, and the opportunity to make that dream come true.
