Currently, there seems to be an obsession with what is natural. I have no problem with this. What I do have a problem with, is this silly notion that everything natural should be completely and carelessly embraced.
Many people choose not to have sex before they're married. Many oppose such an action on the grounds that it is an act of repression on one's natural sexuality. Concealed within the opposition's alarmingly simple argument is a blundering assumption. By making the above statement, the opposition is ignorant of the fact that they are also arguing that everything that exists within any natural system is safe for interaction.
Please recall for a moment, a tiger. A tiger happens to be a very natural thing. Were you to embrace it, it might embrace back, but not with the same inviting warmth of a hug. Like sex, a tiger is a beautiful creature. When I see a tiger at the zoo, I often think to myself, "How cool would it be to have my own pet tiger? It looks so cuddly from this distance! I'm sure I could domesticate it and teach it to love me and not eat my face." Then, using my brain, I rationalize that this in fact would not be a good idea. It wouldn't be good for me, and it wouldn't be good for the tiger. I consider myself; I consider the tiger.
