From venerable Los Angeles film critic Kevin Thomas:

"Most Valuable Players" (Arclight, Hollywood). Matthew D. Kallis' irresistible documentary charts an annual competition  among stage productions mounted by the high schools of Lehigh Valley, Pa. Kallis focuses on three schools, two of them by coincidence mounting "Les Miserables," a third, "Bye-Bye Birdie." This is a celebration of a win-win situation: the students have a great experience, and the State Center for Performing Arts, a gloriously recycled movie palace in Easton, receives invaluable publicity for its entire calendar of events when it presents the high-excitement, locally televised Freddie Awards, the Lehigh Valley student equivalent of the Tonys. Much good sportsmanship, dedication and talent on view. (Thomas, 8/13). Unrated. Suitable for all ages. (1:35)
